So, what is it? Hints:Â This mound stands about 2-1/2 feet high and is about 2 feet around at the base. I’ve seen them in the summer and have been meaning to get a picture of them for this blog. You’ll find them here and there when walking through the forest. This is the first time I realized that snow doesn’t gather on them. You definitely don’t want to get too close to it. My friend says he soaks them in gasoline and burns them whenever they get this big. Answer: It’s a fire-ant hill and if you disturb it, they start spitting acid at you.
