Thanksgiving

If you’ve never had a deep fried turkey, you’re missing out on a wonderful treat. Friends were gracious enough to invite us over to celebrate all the we have to be thankful. It was a time spent with friends, nice walks, darts, political banter, and of course the sacrificial Tom. The 20 lbs bird shown here being lowered into the vat of boiling oil. Unlike other super heroes, he didn’t escape.

And, along with myself, the audience for the ceremony looked on.

I discovered that you miss the smell of turkey being roasted when you fry it but the 20 lbs turkey is ready in about an hour. The turkey taste, however, is delicious. And the company of friends, another gift to be thankful for.

Speaking of thanksgiving. Who are you thanking? If you’re thankful, is it just an appreciation to some ethereal nothingness, mother earth, or someone who really did give you something? For Jenny and I, it’s the very real giver of all good things, our Lord, Jesus. Chances are that if you’re reading this, you know us, and we thank God for you and your friendship.
