I do try to avoid posting every picture of our cats. But once in a while, I can’t help it.

T-Posts – an altenate use

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

We’ve all seen “T-Posts.” but it wasn’t until we moved to a place where they’re actually used that I learned that these posts have a name. These come in handy as leverage bars when bending my ATV rack back into position. (click to enlarge)

Men’s bathroom at camp. I didn’t wash my hands because I didn’t want to get sprayed in my face with hot water.

Removing Rocks 101

Got Rocks?

For reasons only geologists can explain, the area where we live has had the dirt on the surface washed away. The result is that much of the land has rocks just below the surface. Not your garden variety of rocks, but rather gigantic swaths of granite. Anyway, to build a house, you need to flatten some of this out, or in our case, we had to make a hole where our basement would go.

The solution: Dynamite!

There’s a large mound of rock on our neighbors property (click to enlarge). Note the bright orange string running across the surface. Actually that’s detonator cord for the mix of nitrogen and dynamite buried in holes drilled into the rock.

Below isĀ  a quick little video of the removal of this rock. Just click the word “boom” to download the video.
