Liquid dirt

Some might call it mud but that’s not exactly right. The ground is soft but frozen enough to support you. Most of the time. At some point though, it thaws just enough and becomes more of a liquid and squish, you car tires sink right through the surface down to the frost-line a few inches down. If you value your driveway or road, you’ll avoid that spot until it dries out in a few weeks.

If you don’t, you get a parking lot that looks like this one down at the camp here in town. This photo doesn’t do it justice but trust me, this is a parking lot. And if you go to camp, you’d best not be wearing your nice shoes.
